Message: by: Julene Kapao No matter where I’m stuck or how I got there, my God is ready and willing to help. --------------------------------- After church we stopped briefly to get something from home before heading to friends for lunch. For some reason my head wasn’t working properly, something about being hungry and just sitting through a long service! My boys were in the car, hungry as well, but busily texting their friends. Without thinking I drove around our garage and past the back fence on grass – very wet, muddy grass. We got stuck. Really stuck. The boys started to chuckle when they realised our trouble and jumped out to “help”. Not enough traction; not enough power. So we walked to lunch, ate and wondered how we’d get unstuck while the rain began to pour down outside. A group of boys, my sons friends, offered to help and eagerly got the process rolling. My littlest and I watched from the footpath as eight rugby players pushed, pulled and became totally covered in mud while removing my car from the mud. Free at last from the mire and clay, the car spun out on the grass and came to a rest in the drive, now more brown than red. The boys cheered and asked if they could get it stuck again. I declined but gratefully thanked them for helping me when it was my fault and poor thinking that got the car into that mess. How often that has happened with God. I get stuck, totally up to my neck in trouble – not just mud – and he comes to the rescue. He dresses for the occasion and enjoys the challenge. At least that’s the way I like to see it. he probably doesn’t want me to try it again – he’d rather me stick to the concrete and paved roads, but he knows I’ll do something else that will need his help sooner or later. Do you know what the best thing is? No matter where I’m stuck or how I got there, my God is ready and willing to help. “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 Julene is an enthusiastic mother, wife and teacher.
