Something Out of Nothing

by Rowan

”..God wasn’t real...”

I have been going to church since a kid, and since I gave my life to Christ at the age of 14, I have always longed for God to reveal himself to me.

Up until my annual youth group a few months ago he still hadn’t (or not in the way I wanted). There had been numerous camps in the years before where I’d just stood there on the Saturday night praying, sometimes even yelling, to God for him to show himself to me. Each time I’d gone to bed in the cabin with the same defeated feeling that God wasn’t real and my whole life had been a dedication to a nothing god.

This year was different, but not in the way you’re thinking. As I stood there praying to God, just like every other year, hoping for Him to show himself to me, it suddenly hit me. God doesn’t need to reveal himself to me. If I truly believe in Him then he doesn’t need to show me anything. I should believe in Him no matter what. After all, it’s not about me in the first place. Any revelation from God should be considered a gift, not a necessity.

I received God’s blessing in the most unexpected way possible. I got nothing, but from nothing realised that God was everything and that I shouldn’t be so focussed on receiving from him.

I guess it proves that God can make something awesome out of nothing.

God truly does exists! Many times I have experienced miraculous things and my husband as well; but there was this particular time when I was driving my husband’s huge van which was very akward for me to drive since I am petite. Anyway, I was driving along a very narrow road way and I had trouble knowing how much room I had to drive between our van, the parked cars and on coming traffic. So, as I was driving I begin approaching a Fed-Ex truck and suddenly “wham” I remember hearing a loud crash, so I stopped the van and got out to see the damage that I had caused; miraculously no damage nothing at all. And the woman driver said to me that something told her not to get out of the truck just yet because if she had I would have hit her. God was there for both her and me. She had also said that she heard a loud crash too and we both were stunned.
