The Arms of God Look a Lot Like Mine

by katjacobs

Her reply spoke volumes to me….

Isn’t it funny how many of the greatest and most meaningful conversations happen after bedtime? Perhaps it’s because we’ve had a chance to relax, wind down and reflect. Perhaps we’re just weary and unguarded. Whatever the reason, I treasure those late night exchanges.

Eight o’clock isn’t exactly late, but it is well past the bedtime of my 4 year old daughter. It was a few minutes after eight when we noticed that her light was on in her room.  When I went in to remind her that it was bedtime this is what she said:

“Mommy, I’ve asked God for a long, long, long, long, long, long, long (x34) time to come down for real and give me a hug. Do you think He ever will?”

After I wiped the tears from my eyes from hearing such a pure, innocent and precious request, I honestly said, “I don’t know if He will, but I know He can.”

Her reply spoke volumes to me, “I know Mommy….God can give me a hug through you!”

I wrapped my arms around my most precious treasure and said, “Yes, baby, He most certainly can.”

I think I’ve seen you over at the EE forums. I haven’t posted there much lately, but it was fun to recognize your name when I saw it here. Nice implementation of EE.

I have a few more stories I’d like to post.

What a great idea for a site.

Yep, that’s me in the EE forums - couldn’t do what I do w/o help…;)

Thanks for the comments - feel free to post away!

I have a few tweaks in mind for the site as well - hoping to get to them this weekend.

Awesome story!

It seems that God aswered her and she may have not evne caught it.  She just knew that you could stand in for God.

Michael,
Any chance that there are plans to make the name in the story byline - in my case, kat jacobs - a link like it is in the comments section?

Thanks!
