Tongue-Tied?

Don’t think you have a story to tell?

I see you.  There, behind the monitor.  You’ve been clicking around the site and you finally got curious - just what would a page called “Tongue Tied?” have to say?

So here it is - I either have or overhear conversations every week that include little “stories about God” that I wish would show up here on the site.  I’ve even talked to people directly about contributing, and either they say or want me to think that they don’t have any good stories about God in their lives.  And I always get this little inner smile, because I know I either just heard one, or if we sat down over coffee for an hour I’d probably hear a great story about God.

But when I propose the idea of sitting down posting a story here on the Internet, people seem to get tongue-tied.

Since I can’t sit down over coffee with all of you, I thought I’d post some of the thoughts and questions I’d work into the conversation if we could - all in hopes of untying that tongue.

  • Have you ever felt a clear and direct answer to prayer?
  • Did you ever see something in nature that just made you stop and go - Wow.
  • Did you ever hear a child say something that just made you think it was direct from God?
  • Have you ever witnessed a miracle?
  • Have you ever been in a situation that seemed impossible, but God found an out?
  • Have you ever taken a big risk?  What happened?
  • Do you ever look back on your life and think “Wow - I’m not that person anymore.” How did you get from there to here?
  • Have you ever felt God’s presence in a strong way?

Answers to these questions can be good fodder for stories.

And - I understand if it’s a bit scary to think about revealing a bit of yourself and your relationship with God on a public website.  I’m sure there are a number of questions you might have, which is what the faq is designed to answer.  I’d especially encourage you to read why should I post my story here?.
